What Is Freedom?
Freedom refers to the state of being free from constraints, whether they are political, social, or physical, allowing for the liberty to speak, act, or think without interference or fear. It encompasses the individual's ability to act without compulsion and the nation's right to self-governance. The concept can also refer to the absence of unpleasant or unwanted situations, or the ability to fulfill one's purpose.
We have never been free. Freedom is based on a metric system of who get’s to do what based on their appearance. The idea has been an illusion sold to us since we all collectively came out of bondage on a system that has been telling us what to do, but that system still very much tells us what to do and tricks us into believing that we are free because we don’t have the unbearable conditions of slavery.
The conditions aren’t a whip at our back and all the victims aren’t people of African descent. Colonizers need slaves for the system to work and depending on where you fall on this metric system, you may be its current slave. I didn’t have this clarity has a child but I felt it subconsciously. I was taught to work twice as hard and to keep a good attitude and demeanor that we’re non threatening to those in power. If I worked hard and long that at some point I would be rewarded into the system and may even be accepted. As a child I didn’t want to be accepted. I was not interested in becoming a moderate day slave. I did what a lot of young black boys do when they are angry, in search of answer’s, and want to rebel against a system. I decided to learn from those that seem the most free. Street Kings.
